Washougal MX Park in Washougal, Washington — just east of Portland and the Columbia River Gorge — is arguably the most visually spectacular track on the Pro Motocross schedule. Carved into the dense Douglas fir forest of the Pacific Northwest, the track winds through trees and along hillsides that create a backdrop unlike anything else in the sport.

The Track

Washougal is a tight, technical track that demands patience and precision. The forest setting means narrow sections where passing is nearly impossible, elevation changes that are more severe than they appear from the outside, and a soil composition that varies dramatically depending on where sun reaches versus where shade keeps the ground consistently moist.

The Pacific Northwest soil at Washougal is rich and dark — a volcanic loam that produces excellent traction when conditions are right but becomes slick and unpredictable when moisture persists into afternoon racing. Track conditions can change significantly between the first and second motos, rewarding riders who adapt their approach mid-day.
