Jorge Prado grew up in Lugo — a city in Galicia, the green, rainy corner of northwestern Spain that feels as far removed from the sandy circuits of California supercross as anywhere in Europe. Yet from that unlikely starting point, he built one of the most impressive international racing careers of his generation. Two consecutive MX2 World Championships, in 2018 and 2019. A seamless transition to the MXGP premier class where he has accumulated over forty podiums. Runner-up in the MXGP World Championship in both 2023 and 2024. El Pistolero — the nickname his style earned — became one of the most recognizable brands in global motocross.

The 2026 season represents Prado's most committed attempt at a full American campaign. AMA Supercross is a different discipline — the rhythm of stadium racing, the short, technical rhythm sections, the elevation changes and the timing required on tight indoor tracks differ fundamentally from outdoor MXGP circuits. Building that muscle memory while competing in one of the deepest 450SX fields in history is the challenge El Pistolero has taken on willingly.

"Supercross is something I've always wanted to master. American fans, American tracks, the best riders in the world — that's the challenge I came here for."
